Take Yourself Out to the Ballgame...
And be an umpire! Ashland Little League needs you and many other Volunteer Umpires to help with the coming season. Little League international has a long standing tradition of using volunteer umpires as opposed to paid professional umpires which provides a different flavor.
Having proficient, trained and quality umpires is a significant benefit to the boys and girls playing baseball and softball, as well as to their coaches and fans. Gaining training from the league will help you to gain the confidence necessary to be an integral part of the game and have the “best seat in the house!”
Ashland Little League will provide the training and gear, and you provide the body! The league’s UIC (Umpire in Charge), Len Gerken, is planning quite a number of rule book reviews and brush ups, as well as on-the-field mechanics training sessions to help get you in the right position to make the right call.
These sessions will begin in early March and continue into mid April, even after the season has begun. Knowledge in many cases is power, so come on out and gain the knowledge necessary to enable the league’s players to have a powerfully positive experience!
Please thoughtfully consider this, as experience is not needed, only a willingness to learn and help out so as to help the youth of our community enjoy baseball.
