Ashland Little League Baseball and Softball’s float in the 4th of July parade won second place in its category this year!  Kelly Anderson, the Little League’s 4th of July coordinator, said “a lot of people helped put this float together and a lot of Little League players, both Baseball and Softball, came out to join the fun in the parade.”

Kelly said Gordon Brown donated his truck, trailer, and his abilities; Allied Building Supply donated the fence (batting cage) around the trailer; parents and players came to Kelly’s house for paper mache parties to construct the giant bat and piñata baseballs stuffed with candy; and so many parents donated candies and helped walk the kids down the parade making it safe for everyone.  The batting cage was draped in individual baseball pennants designed by Robin Gerken and constructed by a lot of our parents.  A sign thanking donors was displayed in the parade as well as acknowledgements of our sponsors support over the public address system during the parade.  As far as anyone can remember, this was Ashland Little League’s first official float and first award for an entry.  Way to go Kelly!
