Hello Members of the Ashland Little League,
The Ashland Little League continues to promote the development of baseball skills in fun and new ways. Players and adults who want to be coaches now have new ways to hone their skills and learn from those who have been playing and coaching for many years and doing so in a way that doesn’t put pressure on the family pocket book. Check these options out:
1) Coaches of the Ashland Little League are developing a clinic for the fall where both players and prospective coaches can come to the ball field once or twice a week to develop their baseball skills and coaching acumen. The goal is to have different stations where players can learn the specific skills of each position and create better batting habits. These clinics will be fast pace skills development. A nice way to bring your future players to learn baseball in a non-competitive atmosphere from older and more experienced players and for prospective coaches to learn specific drills to help players understand the game of baseball.
The secondary goal is to provide a place where all Ashland Little league coaches past, present and future can share techniques and skills with each other to make the league better and more responsive to the needs of the playing kids.
Things you should know:
- The clinics will start around the beginning of September and run for approximately 6 weeks
- The schedule will be finalized by Monday, August 23rd
- There will be no fee charged
- Players of all ages are welcome - any kid who wants to learn how to run, hit or throw!
- Volunteer coaches are needed. If you want to coach in the future, have coached in the past, want to teach others how to coach or just want to help out you are needed.
- Other volunteers are also needed to help with the kids, including a few 'team parent' types who can organize potential snacks

2) Sean Gallagher has developed a wiffle and stick ball club for adults and players to hone their batting skills while having fun. There is no fee required and the club meets weekly for games. 3) Medford National and American Little Leagues are hosting Fall Ball for teams again this year. Individual players can call Chris Campbell to see about joining a team. His number is 541-840-3527. These games are played on Sundays and are double headers. Website links to this fall ball are the following:

*Registration deadline is Monday August 9 (sorry for the late notice... You can blame me, Steve Rice, for this. I found out about it just a few days ago, and family travel has impaired my ability to get this email out before now!)
All teams that play in Medford Fall Ball do so outside the auspices and organization of The Ashland Little League - though with our full emotional and potential gear support. As such any coaches and players can form any team they so choose. One of Ashland’s coaches has already formed a team and will be competing in this Fall Ball Interlocking League.
These options represent Ashland Little League’s continuing commitment to provide more baseball options that are fun and oriented to skill development at a low cost. These options come about because of the dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers who wish to see more of our youth playing more baseball and playing it better.
