{From Sean Gallagher - Organizer: The Stick Guy}Hey All-
Big Stickball event this weekend; stickball this Sunday will be at 11:30am at the school across from the tennis courts at Hunter Park. We will start with a stickball Home Run Derby, which all are invited to partake in, and then we will begin the stickball game, adults vs the pipsqueaks (anyone under 25 years old), immediately after. After the Stickball game concludes I will take a short break and be back on Hunter Field for our weekly wiffle ball at 4:30 pm.
I apologize for not getting this out yesterday, but I have been extremely busy.
Recap of last Sunday's fun:
It looked like the Home team (adults) were in for a long day as two little league all-stars pranced on to the wiffle ball field ready to take down the heavily favored Home team. Stenley and Lawson co-captained the visiting team and for the first 3 innings were nearly untouchable, except for a monster triple by "The Pres" Chase Anderson and our new lead-off hitter, and ex-softball player, Sheri who had a pair of singles early. Stenley's slider and Lawsons hook, kept Rico, Sean, Peter and Darin under wraps early. The Home Team's Ace was beaten up early by solid hitting from Lawson, Stenley and newcomer Dino. The visiting team jumped to a 3 - 0 start until the fourth inning when Lawson struggled with his control and the home team came alive, this forced Sten to come in for relief. Unfortunately, bases were loaded and I was hungry to redeem myself, as stenley in previous innings had shut me down with nasty sliders. Now the 3-1 pitch....Good Bye Mr. Spalding...Grand Slam! and the Home team in one pitch takes the lead. In the 5th inning it was no better for the Visiting team as Rico and the gang rallied and once again forced a pitching change. With ducks on the pond, Lawson steps on the mound, trying to keep the game close, 2 outs, 2-2 count, the pitch an outside heater, the swing....Adios Mr. Spalding...2 run homer that seemed to cap the game and put it out of reach until the top of 6; The pipsqueaks rally with hits by Stenley and Lawson, bringing up their homerun hitting slugger from the week before, ETHAN. He glares at me and can see I am a bit fatigued, I give him a beautiful curve, he swings....a blast into center field, Peter (Mr. Gold Glove) backpedals into deep center, my jaw drops down to my knees, back, back, back, going, going,...Holy Smokes, what a play, Peter leaps up with his 3 inch vertical and robs Ethan of a sure homerun and the game tying run. Once again, he shows us old guys/gals still have it. Game Over Home Team victorious.
Stickball was cancelled last weekend, anticipating the big game this weekend, however we did play a vigorous game of "Down Under". I will say that My Gold Glove Dad (Peter) had a heck of a day as he was also the winner and current champ of Buttball, DownUnder, or whatever name you chose to call it.

For those of you that are just getting this email for the first time, if you have younger kids 10 - under wiffle ball is probably more their speed. However, all ages, boys/girls, men/women are encouraged to come out and give it a shot; we do have some young studs like "lil Traber" who can get it done on both fields. Stickball is played with a tennis ball and a shovel handle, which can be difficult for some of the younger kids. However, this weekend I will have a small bat on hand which will make it easier for them to participate. So come join the fun! Pass the word!
